Another Year

Whey~

My Birthday is almost over at this point but hey. It's been a good day! Right now I'm typing this while I chat with my mum (listening to her rant right now lol).

I had a good day. I got to do something really fun and I met some cool people :) I stepped out of my comfort zone and I think it turned out pretty nice? We'll see (wow I just wrote many words that said a whole lot of nothing... ahaha). Okay well, I got some professional photos taken. A complete makeover. Cost me a pretty penny but no regrets. 

The story behind this is that my family was saying that they don't really have pictures of me (current ones and well, I haven't been home in 3 years...) and well, I don't really like pictures of myself usually (the ones I take to let my family know I'm still alive are like super shitty selfies lol). So...why not get some nice pictures taken? But...I don't want to see or be myself. So... I took pictures of myself as not myself.

Does that make sense? lol

It was an experience. Just the makeup took 1 hour and I did 2 sets, so 2 hours for makeup and getting dressed (kimono). Oh and hair. I haven't seen myself with long hair since I was 16. It was WEIRD! lol

But yeah I was fun and the people at the studio were really nice. They even celebrated my Birthday at the end because I was the last person in for the day. They wrote me a card and everything ;3; aw. Customer service and all that, I know but it's still nice and the card is really cute \;3;/

Got to end the day with a nice dinner and good company as well (and well, then my parents).

Some of you might be wondering why my blog title is what it is and to be honest, I don't remember who exactly gave me that nickname but it was before I got my teaching certificate at some point... sleep is for the weak(end)

On my first day of university orientation, the professor laid out a schedule and during his presentation he said "as you can see sleep is for the weak...end [weekend]" and yoo.... uni. lol Really random and short entry for today but I'd be interested in hearing your stories about, well, sleep. I talk to my students a lot and especially in Japan, I always feel like people sleep way too little. Like, I can run on 4-5 hours of sleep. But I won't be very uh let's say functional. And I can't do it for an extended period of time or my health will just go down the drain. However it's the average amount of time most of my students here sleep. Do Japanese people sleep more deeply somehow? And is being able to fall asleep anywhere and anytime a genetic thing? lol  How long do you need to sleep? I personally like to get 6-8 hours. 6 hours are the bare minimum and as of late it's the longest time my body will LET me sleep without waking up. If I can I will go back

Okay, I give in, here's a blog - Kira Life Update

Okay, so Blogtober 2.0, if you will? Or if I'm allowed to do that lol I noticed that blogging about fandom related stuff only is hard and maybe not all that interesting for people, so I decided to make a more personal blog after all. And after interacting with Pippa on her blog, I found that THAT was what I do miss from LJ and so yeah, here goes. This first entry is an update on what's been happening in my life - in a nutshell. For the future, prepare for a bunch of random stuff, rants and what not. I will most likely be talking about: life and work fandom stuff stuff that is on my mind living in Japan food More specific fandom stuff will still be on the other blog but fandoms not covered by that (yeah yeah I have too many fandoms, I know) will be on this one.
