birthday twins

This is a bit out of the blue but I found myself thinking about this particular peculiar story from my life recently and thought I'd write it down.

I think it was prompted by people saying 'birthday twin' to people who share the same birthday.

I share my birthday with a few people I know - famous and not famous alike - but there is one person, or was, really, in my life whom I really and truly consider my 'birthday twin'...

It's one of those 'this shit actually happens in real life' things.

So, when I entered elementary school, I was reunited with a girl. At that point in time, neither of us knew that we had been in fact reunited until our mother's met.

Turns out our mothers were hospital roommates when they were pregnant with us. And if that wasn't enough, we were both also born on the same day and, check this out, exactly 12 hours apart. She was born in the morning, I was born at night. And our features kind of mirrored that. She is tall, skinny, blond and blue-eyed and I am my short, dark-haired, fat brown-eyed self.

What are the odds really.

Unfortunately, I've lost contact with her when she moved away before we finished elementary school. And back then there was no internet for easy communication and while we did manage to keep up snail mail for a while, things fizzled out when we got busy with secondary school.

I wonder where she is now and how her life is going.

Hope you're happy, Birthday Twin.

Still thinking of you, still love you.
